I literally can't wait for the day we can see our family and friends again! If I keep myself busy I'm fine but its times like this that I think, wow, I really really miss everyone and could do with some hugs right now! But we as adults can understand this whereas children must be finding it so hard. Me and Oscar have gone from seeing my parents from 3 or 4 days a week to none. He must be so confused with all of this and it breaks my heart that he can't see his grandparents, aunties, uncles and cousins and that they can't see him.
So I thought of an idea. First of all, I thought we could send some paintings to everyone and turn his hand and footprints into some kind of cute artwork but then I thought actually I've been taking lots of photos (like usual!) of what Oscar has been up to over the past three weeks, I should do something with these as well!
In my head I was thinking some kind of scrapbook as I think they're so exciting to look through. So me and Oscar carried on and did some painting! The last time we did some painting was at Christmas and he absolutely hated it! He wouldn't even touch a paintbrush so our handmade Christmas presents for family went out the window ha! But this time he loved it! It's like he had never seen paint before! We got so many pictures done and I actually think he's pretty good with a paintbrush!
Next, I wanted to take three photos of Oscar holding three separate signs up saying I LOVE YOU! Oscar was amazing at this and I got so many faces from him but by the time we got to YOU he was starting to lose interest! So I only managed to get the one but thats all we needed so it was a job well done! He was also wearing one of the cutest outfits from Porridgeheads (I'll post the link at the end) so I love the photos even more! I had to go over the writing when editing in Lightroom as it was quite faint so it's not the neatest but I think it works! I then put in an online order of 3 weeks worth of photos x 5 which equaled to 241 photos altogether!! My favourite kind of order!
As soon as the photos arrived, we got stuck in. Five books set out and now was the fun part! Oscar helped me stick the photos in with washi tape. I then cut up some of his paintings to stick in and I asked him what everything was and what we should turn his hands and feet into! We had quite a range of things - chicks, a bunny, a tiger, a cat, a peacock, a carrot, a tractor and a stegosaurus! I then started to write in the books and whilst I was writing in one, Oscar was personalising the rest of them with crayons and stickers! 4 days later and they were finished!
I'm so happy with how they've turned out. And after seeing them all in a pile with all the coloured covers, I thought this is a perfect photo opportunity! I didn't even think at the time when we were making them that I'd be taking photos of them to share with the world! I also have this really cute felted camera prop, made by a lovely lady over at The Felted Teacup, that I thought would look really good with the books and crayons. I'll post a link to her page at the end.
We then sent them all out on Thursday and everyone has received theirs apart from my sister (She hasn't got social media at the moment so I'm hoping she doesn't see!) So now I can share it with you guys! I know it might not seem much to some people but I just wanted to do a nice surprise for our family and let them know that Oscar misses them and something to just make them smile really!
Anyway, I hope you've enjoyed reading this and I've probably rambled on a bit!
Stay safe!
Daisy x
