This relaxed and playful session allows your child to explore, giggle, and enjoy their cake while we document every adorable moment. With a focus on genuine expressions and spontaneous reactions, we create beautiful, timeless memories of this once-in-a-lifetime experience. There are three parts to the session - Photos before the smash, the smash and splash time and every session includes the scrumptious cake, made by Sugar Shamrocks. There is also the option to add on parent and/or sibling poses for an extra £30 which would take place at the beginning of the photoshoot before the mess begins! The session fee for a Cake Smash photoshoot is £99 (£129 if family poses have been added) and lasts for up to 1 hour. After the session, you will then be invited back to my studio 2-4 weeks later to view your final gallery of approximately 20 fully edited images. You will then have the opportunity to purchase one of the below packages. However, if a package isn't suited to you and you'd rather purchase a couple of prints and images, there is a minimum order of £149. Individual prices can be found here.

Cake Smash FAQ
When do I need to book my session?
I suggest at least 12 weeks before your preferred date to avoid disappointment. Sessions can be booked before or around your baby’s birthday, it's completely up to you but I do need 3 weeks notice as this gives me enough time to organise the cake.
What should my child wear?
I do have a couple of outfits available to use but I always recommend to bring your own outfit as everyone has a different style, which I always look forward to seeing. You are also welcome to bring an extra outfit for the “pre cake smash” photos or they can wear the one outfit the entire session. Be prepared for the outfit used for the cake smash to get very messy, in a good way of course!
Does it have to be cake?
No of course not! Your cake smash can be anything from a fruit smash to a doughnut smash! Any pudding or dessert will work well and will definitely be lots of fun!
What should I bring?
Just their normal changing bag, an outfit for pre and cake smash photos, change of clothes for after the session including yourself if you aren’t going straight home, their usual drink bottle of water, their own towel and any special soap/bubble bath.
Who supplies the cake?
Every yummy cake is professionally made by a small local business called Sugar Shamrocks. If there are any allergies or special requirements for the cake, please specify at the time of booking.
What if my child doesn't like the cake?
I highly recommend letting your little one taste test some cake before the session. I really do see a difference in sessions where baby is already familiar with the texture and flavour of cake.
How messy does it get?
Some children make lots of mess, some don’t, it all depends how much they smash the cake but there will probably be cake everywhere and I do hope your little one makes lots of mess! You should expect lots of it on your own hands and clothes, for this reason I suggest a change of clothes for yourself just in case. I will have plenty of wipes ready for you to clean your own hands etc.
What happens on the day of the cake smash?
Prior to your arrival I suggest you feed your little one breakfast/lunch or a snack at least an hour before the session.
Everything for the cake smash will be set up and ready to go for a smooth transition through the session, but please don’t worry if it isn’t as smooth as you thought. Each child is different. I will work with your child and let them run the show with a little direction from me. I will also let you know when I need your help but always stay close by as quite often they like to stop for a quick cuddle so be prepared to get messy yourself!
I will let your little one settle in and warm up to me. It can be a bit daunting for them coming to a new place and having me get in their face with a huge camera.
I will then start with the “Pre smash” photos which normally takes around 15/20 minutes capturing their gorgeous smiles and giggles.
Next is the cake smash! This is where the real fun begins! Not all kids will go straight for the cake but it is very fun to watch how they react to it! I will try and entice them to dive in but I may need you to help dig through the icing to get to the cake and break it up as we go, but don’t worry - I will let you know when. No matter if your child loves the cake or not I will still capture gorgeous photos for you to treasure.
Last of all is the SPLASH part of the session! This will be set up straight after the cake smash so the fresh water is the right temperature for your baby! I try to capture them splashing and playing with the bubbles and it often brings out the biggest smiles of the day! I can supply the bubble bath which would always be sensitive but you are more than welcome you bring your own.
