Well I can't believe Easter has been and gone already! It's been a strange one hasn't it?! We either normally go over to my parents and Oscar joins in with my younger siblings egg hunt or Oscar's auntie does an egg hunt for all of the family, and sometimes we even do both, like we did last year! But obviously we couldn't do any of that this year. So it was just us three. And I think what makes it upsetting is that Oscar understood everything a lot better this time and we couldn't really share it with anyone.
Over the past week leading up to Easter Sunday, Oscar's aunties and grandparents have left eggs on the doorstep for him and he's been so excited to open them. But each time I've said to him something like 'They're for Sunday, so in 3 days you can them' and I'd put them out of view. With every day that passed, he kept reminding me about his chocolate eggs and in the end he was telling me how many days it was until he could have them. He even answered back to my husband and said 'No not Sunday, I have them on Tuesday' Like yes, if you'd like to wait longer for them, that's fine ha!
On Saturday night, we stacked them up on the coffee table and I think in total he had 6 eggs, 1 dinosaur shaped chocolate figure, a homemade chocolate egg cheesecake (we had one as well and it tasted amazing!) and a chocolate lollypop. I couldn't wait to see his face but I knew he would want to open every single one, not because he wants the chocolate, but because he thinks there's going to be something inside every egg! Did I forget to say that he is obsessed with surprise eggs?!
Anyway, on Sunday that is exactly what he wanted to do but I managed to restrict it to just one, for about 45mins and then we let him open the kinder one as we knew there was a toy inside! Whilst he was distracted with this, I went outside to set up the egg hunt! I actually felt excited whilst hiding the eggs as I knew he was going to be over the moon! I just remember how I felt when my parents used to do them for me and my siblings, it was just so exciting! I also did a little set up at the back of the garden with Oscars teepee and some of the props I had bought for the Easter mini sessions - theres alway opportunities for a photoshoot!
The egg hunt was a success! His little face every time he found an egg was just the cutest. He just seemed so much more grown up and knew what to do. The way he was holding his basket as well! Why do they have to grow up so quickly?! I'm gutted we couldn't share this moment with our families but I'm hoping these photos will tell the story!
